Trademark
Music in Motion® is a Federally Registered Trademark for Dance Presentation Services, namely choreography, staging, production and instruction for classical and modern ballet, music theater and opera. As a Federally Registered Trademark, the logo and/or use of the three words together must carry the circled ® symbol for a trademark. For information on licensing contact Dave Gell.
Music in Motion® has been involved in all phases of dance from flexibility and fitness for athletes to Title III projects in Virginia, Louisiana, Hawaii, Texas and New York; festivals including the Ithaca and San Diego Festivals; to fully-staged productions at Wolf Trap Farm Park for the Performing Arts, the Virginia Beach Pavilion, Hawaii Opera Theatre, La Petit Theatre and the historic Strand and Stanley Theatres in New York. A 30-Year celebration was held in 1996.
It has been fully funded for projects by the NEA and various state arts councils and is self supporting in most phases of its operation.
An important function has always been the establishment and support of studios and regional dance companies; training of teachers and dancers; providing a performing outlet and income through concerts, lecture demonstrations, liturgical services, benefits and tourist events.
Music in Motion® has an ongoing program of performances with public school systems and young audiences in Virginia. Each performing company is autonomous, covered by legal contract, and by Trademark Protection for its work.
Affiliates include Georgia, Mississippi, New York and Virginia. Consulting on short and long range plans, business concerns, exchange of teachers, choreographers and dancers is encouraged and available as needed. The Music in Motion® Trademark is owned by Barbara W. Thuesen, author and publisher of “The Choreographer : Jack of All Trades” © 1972.
Five and ten-year plans include the continuing development of companies and schools, licensing arrangements are available, with website availibility and an established trust fund.
